Left: George Waller, born 1740, died 1833, was the 4th son of Samuel Waller and his wife Anne Jocelyn. After a lengthy career with the Revenue Commissioners, he purchased Prior Park, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. By his second wife Eliza née Studdert, he is the ancestor of the Prior Park branch of the family. He and Eliza are buried in the table tomb in the family graveyard at Clough Prior, close to the entrance gates to Prior Park.  (Joc. Sanders, 2006).

Watercolour sketch by by Georgina Eliza Augusta Waller (2 Aug 1842 - 17 Aug 1872) (1a2d4 f6) of a yacht ‘The Fairy’dated Aug 15th 1871. This was taken from her sketchbook and contributed by Jocelyn & Marty Sanders.

Background Note: For generations the Prior Park branch of the family have had a great love for the nearby Shannon, with its lakes, and for the sport of sailing. Every year this still brings members of the family back from around the world to meet and enjoy the annual regatta of the Lough Derg Yacht Club at Dromineer. This sketch, made by my great-great aunt Georgina, shows a typical yacht used on the Shannon in the mid-nineteenth century. Her father William Waller of Prior Park is recorded as having raced her at regattas on Lough Ree in 1872. The sketch was probably made on the shore of Lough Derg at Castletownarra, looking South-west, judging from the positions of the hills.
